Title: 100th Anniversary of Italian Unification Medal Maker: Giampaoli Date(s) of Materials: 1961 Place Made: Italy Medium: Gold Dimensions: Diameter: 2 1/4" Description: .900 gold medal celebrating the 100th anniversary of Italian Unification. The obverse of the medal has a relief of four mens profiles (Giuseppe Mazzini, Count Cavor, Giuseppe Garibaldi and Victor Emmanuel II) and is embossed with Primo Centenario Dell Unita D Italia/Gli Artefici. The reverse has a relief of a four horse chariot being driven by a woman bearing a torch, with the zodiac symbols of Aries and Aquarius below it, and 1861-1961 engraved along the top edge. Historical Note: This Medal is the centennial mark of the country of Italy.
